What I Most Look Forward to in My Environmental Science Class
I'm excited to explore a study that is outside of my "normal" interests. In high school I always struggled with science, whether that be biology, chemistry and etc. I think what was most difficult for me was finding a way to keep it interesting, when I get bored it's easier for me to lose focus. I did love all the experiments that my teachers would do, I especially loved how passionate they were while demonstrating their experiments all while finding a way to tie it to a lesson. So far Professor Walker has found a way to incorporate teaching in a way I haven't seen many instructors do and while I might not see "experiments" unfold like I did in high school, I definitely look forward to learning in a matter that gets me out of my comfort zone such as filming videos or writing the blog that you're reading right now.
What I Think This Class Will Be About
I may not know the exact curriculum that's in store for me (mostly because I haven't looked that far into the modules), but I think I can put two and two together just from the title of the course alone. I'm expecting to not only learn about the environment but also the applications it has toward our everyday life and the things surrounding us. Everything from not killing that scary spider in your house because they take care of more "invasive" insects, to climate change and its effects on the planet and the creatures on it. I hope I not only learn from this course but also reshape my view of life around me in a manner that makes me more conscious of my everyday decisions.
