For the most part the calculators estimating water usage at my household were relatively close, all except the "Hunter Water" website, I'm not sure if I just didn't input my information correctly or if they just have different measurements when it comes to water usage. On the other hand on the exact same website it showed the average household usage to be about 109kL a year which translates roughly to about 45.8 gallons a person, coming much closer to my water bill making me feel a lot better about the water consumption in my household. I did find it very interesting just how easy it is to save water in simple ways, simply cutting out a minute or two on our showers can really add up to save a lot of water. Or turning off the faucet while brushing our teeth, or while washing dishes by hand. I learned to be more knowledgeable about appliances that can help save water, such as faucets or shower heads built specifically for saving/efficiency. Which I didn't even know existed. I really liked how different this perspective these websites give us on our water usage habits. These are things I look over on a daily basis, by breaking it down and seeing it in categories I can be more conscientious about decisions I make regarding water. I hope that by people doing simple research such as this one they can in turn become candidates to preach water preservation amongst their households, I know I'll be using my findings to be more proactive when it comes to my personal and household water consumption.
